Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe to fight in a vacant IBF title bout

Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe, one of South Africa’s top female boxers, will fight a championship battle on May 24 at Klipriviersberg Recreation Centre, Johannesburg.

Hadebe will face Mexico’s fearsome WBC champion Gabriela ‘La Bonita’ Sanchez for the vacant IBF Intercontinental flyweight title.

This 10-round battle is promoted by Fantastic 2 Boxing Promotions and sanctioned by Boxing South Africa.

Hadebe is ranked first in Africa and 10th internationally. She is the current South African champion and a two-time ABU champion.

Hadebe, from Midvaal, is a force in the ring with a 13-3-2 record. RGM Cranes and Drivetrain TTS are her sponsors.

Her opponent is the defending WBC champion with a 10-6-0 record and is recognised for her exciting fighting style and resilience.

This is a historic moment in women’s boxing, displaying two of the sport’s most tough competitors on a global scale.
