Visarend Angling Club celebrates May competition winners

Visarend Angling Club celebrates family legacy and life lessons.

The Visarend Angling Club recently concluded its May competition at Miemiesdal, showcasing impressive catches and exceptional angling skills across various categories.

The results were as follows:

Masters category:

• Winner: Bennie Bezuidenhout – 24 fish, 21.174kg

• Second: Jurrie Nel – 16 fish, 13.906kg

• Third: Jan Du Preez – 8 fish, 7.290kg

Ladies category:

• Winner: Karen Nel – 36 fish, 25.732kg

• Second: Yvette Schlotfeldt – 17 fish, 21.996kg

• Third: Leigh-Ann – 13 fish, 8.534kg

Senior men category:

• Winner: Warren Cheek – 31 fish, 34.324kg

• Second: Robert Schlotfeldt – 23 fish, 38.672kg

• Third: Altus Bezuidenhout – 29 fish, 18.298kg

Karen Nel stood out with an impressive haul of 36 fish, while Robert Schlotfeldt captured the heaviest fish of the competition, a Mirror Carp weighing 3.516kg.

Warren Cheek emerged as the overall winner, demonstrating his exceptional angling skills and dedication.

Warren and Joanne Cheek, long-time members of the Visarend Angling Club, recently celebrated their 17th year with the club.

They reflected on the valuable life lessons learned through fishing, emphasizing patience, resilience, problem-solving, awareness of surroundings, and the importance of being present.

The June competition will be held at Lazy View on June 8 and 9. Visitors welcome.
