WOMan organisation hosts sports day at Sun City, plans Kibler Park events

Whether it was the roar of applause or the joy of achieving personal bests, the day proved to be a resounding success.

On November 20, the Sun City Correctional Service hosted a sports day for government officials and the Johannesburg south community.

The day was filled with excitement and energy, as various companies gathered to showcase their products and services – promoting health and fitness.

The WOMan (Well Organised Man) organisation was in attendance, proudly displaying two champion boxing belts to promote the sport and encourage participation. The organisations’ representatives were joined by former world champion boxers Jeffrey Mathebula and Cassius Baloyi, who were on hand to share their expertise and inspire others.

The highlight of the event was the range of activities that WOMan organised. In addition to promoting boxing, the organisation also offered aerobics sessions and a selection of indigenous games, including Morabaraba and other traditional games.

WOMan’s goal was to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, while also celebrating the rich cultural heritage of South Africa.

Founder and chairperson, Theophellous Chabalala said: “Throughout the day, people of all ages were participating in the various activities. Our efforts had paid off, as the atmosphere was electric with a sense of community and camaraderie that was palpable”

WOMan is the rebranded name of the Men In Deed organisation. It is a non-profit organisation located in Kibler Park, Johannesburg south, that tackles societal challenges through sports.

They engage the community with sports activities, allowing them to flourish and achieve their best ability through sports.

WOMan works closely with the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation (DSACR) to expose the community to sports competitions on a competitive level.

“Our commitment to promoting sports and fitness, as well as preserving and celebrating Indigenous culture, was evident in the enthusiasm of the attendees,” expressed Chabalala.

The event was a success and WOMan looks forward to two exciting events lined up for the new year.

On January 15, 2025, the organisation will be hosting a fun walk in Kibler Park, where participants can enjoy a stroll and get some exercise while taking in the beautiful scenery. On February 1, 2025, they are set to host their first official event at the Kibler Park Recreational Center, which promises to be an action-packed day of sports, games and activities for all ages.

“We hope our community is ready to join us on the journey as we are dedicated to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among our young and old,” said Chabalala.
