Many organisations have sponsored Smash to prepare for the biggest fight of her career, including RGM Cranes, African Brand Architects, Ashlei, Discover Sport and Brawl Gear.

Colleen McAusland, Smash’s boxing manager, spoke about the boxer’s condition.

“She’s surrounded by a great team that has helped her with sparring. Her conditioning coach, Araffat Koch, has worked hard to get Smash in peak condition and her boxing coach, Khangelani Jack, has kept her in peak boxing condition”.

Smash has not done pre-fight rituals but spent time in prayer, studying God’s word, and church on Sundays.
She believes she can still climb the world ranking ladder.

She spoke about the fight’s importance, “This fight is important. I need this WBC silver title to put me in higher world ratings. I’m currently number 4 in the world. My goal is to fight for WBC gold by the end of the year.”

She encouraged upcoming fighters to keep fighting and use their voices to speak for themselves.

She is grateful for her sponsors, “I thank my sponsors. Without them, it is not possible to train like I do. I say to everyone out there, use your voice for abused women and children. We are the children’s keepers. I was an abused child and kept it a secret for many years. Boxing helped me speak up. Take the power away from the abuser by exposing them,” she said.
