Silver slips away: Smash defeated in the WBC Silver flyweight
Smash has lost the fight against Sanchez for the WBC Silver fight and the focus now is to defend the BBC African title.
The Johannesburg south female boxer Simangele ‘Smash’ Hadebe lost the big fight on April 4 for the World Boxing Council’s silver title against Gabriela Sanchez Bonita from Mexico at the Zaragoza Olympic Stadium, Mexico.
Smash and her team arrived back in South Africa on April 8.
The focus of Smash and her team now is to defend her SA title and get back to her winning form then she will fight for the BBC Africa title in South Africa.
Smash had a good fight in Mexico and she gave her all during the fight.

Smash fought extremely hard and she broke Sanchez’s nose with a stiff jack in the first round. Smash won the first round, she won the second round, and she cornered Sanchez at the corner that’s when she saw that she couldn’t stand to box with Smash because she is upskilled in boxing.
Smash’s boxing manager Colleen McAusland expressed her view on Smash’s performance against Sanchez.
“Sanchez saw that she could not stand to fight Smash in boxing that’s when she turned into the dirty game, she was hitting Smash behind the head, and pushing her down with an elbow. That was not boxing it became MMA fighting,” she said.

Smash was not injured anywhere; she just took illegal blows behind the head due to fair play.
“That’s boxing for you when you fight outside of your country, there’s no one to protect you, the judges were all from Mexico,” said Colleen.
Over 10 000 South Africans watched the fight. Smash new sponsor Discoversport made it possible for everyone around the world to watch the fight live on their screens.
