Sisterhood charity golf day supports GBV victims and survivors
The proceeds will support a powerful initiative that helps individuals rebuild their lives with dignity.
Sisterhood NPO recently held its first charity golf day at the South Downs Country Club in Mayfield Park.
The event brought together golf lovers, community members and supporters of the organisation’s mission to help survivors of abuse.
Sisterhood, founded by Leyonie Marais, is dedicated to supporting men, women and children who have survived GBV.

The organisation’s aim is to help survivors rebuild their lives, regain their dignity, and become empowered individuals.
Leyonie, a survivor of multiple sexual assaults herself, is a wife, mother, author, entrepreneur and leadership coach.

She is also the visionary behind Leading Ladies, a ministry that supports married and single women in building healthy, Godly relationships.
“We’re a tribe of resilient men and women working together to make a change. And while our work focuses on women and children, we must not forget that men suffer in silence too. Abuse affects everyone,” said Leyonie.

The charity golf day raised funds for Sisterhood’s rehabilitation programme, which includes workshops, support sessions and life-skills development for survivors of all ages and genders. Every rand raised will help individuals on their journey.
“This event was not just about golf,” Leyonie added. “It was about standing up for those who feel they don’t have a voice. It was about community and compassion.”
