The academy’s approach extends beyond developing great rugby players but also to molding well-rounded individuals with high standards and good morals.

Holistic development

The academy benefits young children in multiple ways, providing a structured environment with rules and regulations that help them develop essential life skills.

Coach Riaan works on an honest and respectful agreement with children and parents, fostering a supportive and constructive environment. Ready2Rugby’s approach has yielded impressive results, with numerous players representing the Golden Lions rugby sides.

“I have at least 16 former kids that were part of the academy that now play for the Golden Lions in the different age groups. The programme prepares you for any sport and fosters teamwork and discipline. However, we are always laughing and having fun. As a coach, I believe in making sports fun, which is why I call all my players’ varknekke,’ which is an endearing phrase for all of them,” said Riaan.

Transforming lives

The academy’s programme has shown remarkable success in developing kids’ physical and mental abilities.

Children who struggled with basic skills like jumping and running have made significant progress within months. Ready2Rugby’s goal is simple: to prioritise the well-being of the children above all else.

As Riaan emphasises, “Nothing great ever comes from staying in your comfort zone. “This highlights the academy’s commitment to pushing boundaries and achieving excellence, with a focus on the players’ development.
