Golfers tee off for brighter future

The Golf Day brought together players and parents for a good cause.

The BESA Leadership Academy Golf Day 2025 recently took place at the Eye of Africa golf course, starting with a 10:00 shotgun start. It was a day of fun, camaraderie and fundraising.

Upon arrival, a welcome table offering various items greeted player, making their day even better. Once the golfing began, the players hopped into their carts and made their way to the first hole.

While the day focused on the game, it was also about enjoying the experience, not just focusing on the score.

There were some bunker mishaps and water hazards, but the main goal was to have fun, regardless of the scorecard.

Owner Clint Preddy shared, “The format for the day was an American Scramble. Each player hit their first shot, and the group picked the best shot. Then, everyone moved to the best shot position for their second shot.

“From there, it was every man for himself until the ball hit the hole. This format encouraged teamwork, strategy and friendly competition.”

The school thanked all the sponsors, donors, raffle ticket sellers and volunteers who helped make the event a success.

“Your support helped raise valuable funds for the academy,” expressed Preddy.

The funds will go to furnishing two newly built classrooms with projectors, boards and sound systems. The school is excited to offer these new spaces to its learners and BESA families.

“As a small, family-owned institution, the BESA Leadership Academy values each of its learners, and this event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our families. We look forward to more successful Golf Days in the future,” said Preddy.
