Run bold and join the 2025 Hollard Daredevil Run
The Hollard Daredevil Run invites men to race in purple Speedos, pushing the conversation on cancer testing and saving lives.
With this year’s bold tagline, Make your ballsiest move yet, the Hollard Daredevil Run continues to push boundaries in the fight against prostate and testicular cancers.
This annual awareness campaign invites men to run 5km wearing nothing but a purple Speedo, sparking conversations, challenging stigmas and encouraging early detection through testing to deal with life’s uncertainties.
More than just a run, this initiative is a movement that gets people talking, testing and taking action. This year, it is taking place on October 31 at 15:00.
The official launch of the 2025 Hollard Daredevil Run took place at Hollard Campus in Parktown, Johannesburg, where funds raised from the 2024 event were formally handed over to Hollard’s partners in the fight against male cancers, the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
With 2024 being yet another record-breaking year, with more Daredevils taking to the streets around the country than ever before, approximately R780 000 was raised. Hollard is topping this amount up to R1m, which will be used to increase awareness and reduce uncertainty around cancer testing, especially in areas that do not often have access to essential screening.
Group chief marketing officer at Hollard, Hazel Chimhandamba, said: “As a nation, sport is in our blood. If we are that passionate about it, we can be equally passionate about our health. But just imagine if society paid the same passion and attention to understanding the risks of prostate and testicular cancers.”
Chimhandamba explained that this is why the Hollard Daredevil Run is such a powerful platform. “It raises awareness in a fun and engaging way, sparking dialogue about men’s health in a non-threatening way. For Hollard, we are always optimistic and strongly believe that through increased awareness we can make a positive impact on early detection,” she added.
First launched 16 years ago, the Hollard Daredevil Run features a main event at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg, along with smaller runs in neighbourhoods, schools and universities nationwide.

Prostate cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in South African men.
According to South Africa’s National Cancer Registry, one in 15 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. International data shows that about one in four black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer compared to one in eight white men.
Although less widespread overall, testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged 15 to 35, affecting approximately one in every 2 000 males.
A simple one-minute shower self-examination to check for lumps, swelling or changes in the testicles can save a young man’s life by promoting early detection of testicular cancer, which is highly treatable when caught early.
Registrations for the 2025 Hollard Daredevil Run are open from Wednesday, August 13 at Ticketpro at a cost of R180, which includes the courier of a registration pack and a complimentary purple Speedo.
