Security officer on the flee in custody

You can run from the law but you cannot hide.

The security officer who allegedly shot and wounded his colleague in Radium on Thursday, 21 March was apprehended on Friday 22 March in Hebron, in the Madebeng Municipality North West Province. The suspect is facing charges of attempted murder and appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrate Court on Monday, 25 March.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Bela-Bela launched an intensive manhunt when the suspect fled the scene after the shooting. He left his service pistol in the guard room.

According to Col. Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for SAPS Limpopo, the two male security officers were on duty at a farm in the Radium district and had an altercation, which led to one security officer discharging a firearm at the other.

The 37-year-old victim was shot several times. He was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility. The alleged perpetrator fled the scene.

The suspect will appear in court again on Wednesday, 3 April for bail application.
