Edgars Red Square in Lonehill burgled

FOURWAYS – Police have warned the community not to buy stolen goods after cosmetics worth R600 000 were stolen from a shop.

 

Edgars Red Square in Lonehill Shopping Centre was burgled on 30 January and cosmetic products worth R600 000 were stolen.

The alarm went off at around 6:13am on 30 January and the security guard immediately called for help when he noticed a suspect.

The suspect managed to escape before armed response and Douglasdale police could get there. According to Captain Mpho Kgasoane, Douglasdale police spokesperson, the suspect loaded the stolen goods into a white Volkswagen Caddy, but the registration number on the vehicle was false.

Police have warned the community not to buy stolen goods.

“The Red Square store management is working in cooperation with the police to apprehend the suspect,” said a spokesperson for Edcon, owners of Edgars.

“We also appeal to members of the community who have information that might assist police investigations to phone 011 699 1333,” said Kgasoane.
