#FourwaysShooting: All suspects arrested following William Nicol and Leslie Avenue shootout

Captain Kay Makhubela of provincial police has confirmed that police gave chase to four suspects who had been involved in a house robbery.

“They turned from William Nicol onto Leslie Avenue at about 11am and that’s where the shootout occured,” he said.

“Two suspects were injured in the car and all were arrested.”

Makhubela did not confirm where the chase began but did confirm that when the suspects were arrested and their vehicle searched, stolen items were found in the boot of the car.

These items included a flat screen TV, cameras, a laptop, cash and jewelry.

“One security guard was caught in the cross fire and injured. He is currently in hospital,” Makhubela said.

 

Update, 1pm

The helicopter has now left the scene.

Earlier, 11.30am

Motorists are urged to avoid William Nicol Drive and Leslie Avenue following reports of an active crime scene.

Metro police officers have been dispatched to the area. This is according to Metro police Chief Superintendent, Wayne Minnaar.

Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Tshetlhane has confirmed that police officers are en-route to the scene.
