Update: Woman shot in Fourways allegedly by her estranged boyfriend is still in critical condition

FOURWAYS – A woman who was shot at close range in Fourways is still in critical condition.


Update, 20 March, 1pm

Captain Mavela Masondo,  Gauteng police provincial spokesperson has confirmed that a woman (50) was shot on the upper body on the corner of Ceder Road and Cedar Avenue West, Fourways. She was approached by a male suspect (54) who was later found with a gunshot wound, suspected to have committed suicide.

The woman is still in critical condition at a nearby hospital. According to some media reports the suspect is an alleged estranged boyfriend.

A woman in serious condition after being shot at the Cedar Road and Cedar Avenue West intersection. 

Provincial police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said, “The victim was in her car when a man approached her car and shot her, it has been alleged that the shooter is her boyfriend.”

Masondo said they are still investigating the allegation and the motive for the shooting is still unknown.

The shooter was found in his car with a fatal gunshot wound, it is a suspected murder-suicide. The police have opened an inquest and are investigating a case of murder, Masondo added.
