Auto&General helps those with the will, but not the wool

Auto&General, along with the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela day team, hosted a fun-filled knitting and crocheting workshop in support of Nelson Mandela Day.

Auto&General recently hosted a vibrant Learn to Knit & Crochet workshop, as part of its ongoing support for the renowned 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day initiative.

This event, held on March 6 at Auto&General Park, showcased the company’s commitment to community service and fostered creativity among its employees.

Lebitso Mokgatle, Auto&General’s chief people officer, highlighted their long-standing involvement with 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, which seeks to provide warmth and comfort to those in need. The workshop aimed to engage employees in knitting scarves for 67 Blanket’s Secret Scarf Mission.

Auto&General’s scarves will be discreetly placed around the Fourways area, allowing individuals in need to take them freely.

Over the years, the Auto&General team has donated hundreds of blankets to 67 Blankets. This year alone, 60 blankets have already been knitted, which are destined for distribution during a larger event in Port Elizabeth on March 20. The initiative encourages staff to contribute their skills, promoting team-building and enhancing community spirit.

To further support this charitable cause, Auto&General has made a donation of R100 000, which will be used to support those with the will to knit blankets, but not the wool.
