Ceeya explores love across the miles in new single Long Distance

The rapper and musician opens up about love across the miles in his heartfelt Afro-pop track that marks the first single from his upcoming album DoNotDisturb.

Rising artist Siyabonga Kunene, better known by his stage name Ceeya, is putting real emotion at the centre of his latest release, Long Distance.

He said the Afro-pop track is inspired by his own love life, which also reveals the excitement of finally being with someone and the quiet ache when they’re apart.

“It’s inspired by situations many of us go through when you’re in love with someone who’s far from you. There’s happiness when you finally get to be together, but also that constant feeling of longing and thinking about your person when they’re not there.”

Ceeya said the song reflects emotions many listeners will recognise: hope, love, and the need to stay connected despite the distance.

Originally, Long Distance started as a trap beat, but something didn’t feel right. “It wasn’t connecting. So, I switched it up and created a new beat around the vocals.”

He said he worked alongside August Tenn, and the pair reshaped the production until it matched the feeling they were aiming for.

The final version leans into a smoother Afro-pop sound that complements the song’s heartfelt message. The single marks the first release from Ceeya’s upcoming album DoNotDisturb, which will be released under his record label Quality Wave Music.

He describes the project as a mix of love songs, introspective tracks, fun moments, and chilled music that fans can enjoy day to day.

Together with his business partner ‘Mike Mimmz’, Ceeya said they’ve worked hard to create a solid body of work.

“I’m confident with this one. I really believe people will enjoy it.” He said he hopes the song encourages listeners not to give up on love, even when circumstances make things difficult.

“It’s tough, but it’s doable; it takes commitment, communication, reassurance, and unity to love someone who’s far away. Don’t give up on the love you have; find ways to make it work.”
