They are often the first to defend you when you are in trouble at home, suddenly becoming your biggest lawyer when mom or dad is not impressed. They are also masters of the quiet deal, the sneaky sweet treat, the folded note slipped into your hand with a whispered ‘don’t tell your parents’, or the enthusiastic invitations to spend school holidays at their house, where bedtime rules somehow become flexible and dessert portions mysteriously grow bigger.

That playful, heartwarming bond was the order of the day today at Crawford International Pre-Primary Lonehill, where grandparents’ and special friends’ day turned the school into a joyful meeting place of generations.
“This is my grandson, Aziel Penumetsa,” said Sakkie Ueckermann. “He enjoys playing, and I love spending that playful time with him.”

The joyful celebration was made even more memorable through activities hosted by the school for an extra layer of fun and energy to the day. From interactive play areas to engaging activities that encouraged grandparents and grandchildren to participate together.

“I am holding our grandparent’s day frame, taking photos of all our lovely families and our little grandchildren celebrating today,” said Kyla Williams, one of the teachers. “We invited our grandparents and special friends, some of them, and we are celebrating. We had a performance earlier and they’re having a picnic, reading a story to their little ones.”
