Fourways High School has announced its student council executive and tribe captains for the 2026/27 academic year, handing a new group of learners the responsibility of representing and serving the school community.

At the centre of the new leadership structure are head girl and president Tlotlo Mokwena and head boy and deputy president Lingomso Gadu. For Mokwena, the announcement was an emotional moment after years of hard work and the support of those around her. “Being appointed as head girl means so much more to me than a title. It represents every late night, every sacrifice, and every person who believed in me long before I fully believed in myself.”

Mokwena said her focus during her term would be on bringing more energy, warmth, and school spirit into the corridors, while creating more opportunities for learners to have their voices heard. She hopes to introduce more activities, including civvies days, fundraising events, and sports competitions, while giving learners greater space to share their ideas, concerns, and opinions.

As a matric learner, Mokwena also said she is looking forward to making the most of her final year while serving in a leadership position.

Gadu said his appointment initially brought excitement and joy, but was ultimately accompanied by a strong sense of humility. “To me, this appointment represents a duty of servant leadership: an opportunity to represent every student authentically, to build a supportive high-energy environment, and to repay the immense trust placed in me through daily integrity, dedication, and active service.”

Gadu said one of his main priorities would be ensuring that learners’ voices do more than simply get heard. He wants student input to play an active role in shaping the school, with a focus on inclusive leadership, transparency, and stronger connections between learners and school leadership.
Both leaders said they want their terms to be characterised by unity and a stronger sense of belonging among learners.

The rest of the senior executive leadership council comprises secretary Gia Hwang, head of service Zoe Nienabar, head of culture Banetheba Molokela-Tsiye, and head of sport Emily Milne.

The school has also appointed its tribe captains for the year. Aqua will be led by Asanda Sigwebela and Deeyana Lala, Ignus by Summer Maluleka and Lethabo Maphiri, Terra by Sumayah Abrahams and Israel Masevhe, and Ventus by Camryn Rammanah and Ethan Fish.

Fourways High principal Andrew Holliday congratulated the newly appointed leaders, saying they had demonstrated integrity, resilience, and commitment to the school community. “I know they will lead Fourways High School with honour, dignity, and passion, serving as inspiring role models for their peers and upholding the high standards of our institution.”
