Residents get new street light after year’s wait

DOUGLASDALE - Residents on Condor Road in Douglasdale rejoiced the end of their long wait for a new street light.

The new light comes after more than a year’s wait. A street light on the road rusted at the base and fell over into Janakies Louca’s driveway in April last year.

Louca said, “After many attempts of my neighbours and I reporting it, it was removed after about 12 months.”

Louca said City Power covered the live wires from the street pole in a plastic bag, and left the problem for about three months.

After Fourways Review questioned City Power, a new street light was erected on 24 July. Louca remarked, “I can’t believe we actually have a street light!”
