A 46-year-old male suspect, who allegedly shot his 30-year-old victim on July 23 in Diepsloot Ext 7, is in custody.
According to the police, the victim was allegedly running away from them to avert arrest for transgressing the curfew.
Captain Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for the Diepsloot Police Station said, “The victim allegedly jumped into the suspect’s yard trying to evade the police.
“The suspect allegedly came out of his room and opened fire on the victim, fatally wounding him. The victim was shot three times.”
The suspect was subsequently arrested on the scene. He was charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
