Curro Fourways participates in a hula-hoop challenge
Curro Fourways Preschools recently embarked on an exciting Hula Hoop Challenge, celebrating the spirit of the Olympics through vibrant color-coded activities.
Fourways Curro Preschools recently brought the Olympic spirit to life with a fun and creative hula-hoop challenge, held from July 9 to 26.
Busisiwe Zibi, marketing manager from Curro Fourways explained the purpose of the challenge. “This initiative aimed to inspire preschoolers to partake in physical activities while celebrating the fun and camaraderie associated with the Olympic Games. The challenge was brought by Curro sport.”

Throughout this exciting event, children participated in a variety of challenges organised by colour, each corresponding to a letter of the alphabet. The structure not only made each activity unique but also encouraged creativity and teamwork among the young participants.

- Blue challenge: Children wore blue and performed hoop activities starting with the letter ‘B’, such as bouncing a ball into the hoop or balancing while hopscotching.
- Red challenge: Dressed in red, the preschoolers engaged in challenges starting with ‘R’, including racing with the hoops and running while hooping.
- Green challenge: Wearing green, the children tackled activities starting with ‘G’, like playing a game of golf with hoops or incorporating gymnastics.
- Black challenge: In black attire, they took on ‘B’ activities again, creatively building obstacles with hoops or binding them together.
- Yellow challenge: Clad in yellow, they explored ‘Y’ activities, such as throwing a ball of yarn into the hoops or yodelling while hula-hooping.
The grand finale on July 26 saw all the hula-hoops assembled to form the iconic Olympic rings, a fitting tribute to the event’s theme. The joyous atmosphere was visible, as both preschoolers and staff embraced the challenges with enthusiastic participation and beautiful outfits.
“The hula-hoop challenge not only encouraged physical activity among the young ones but also fostered a sense of community and celebration reminiscent of the Olympic Games,” added Zibi.
The event was a resounding success, leaving lasting memories and sparking a love for movement and creativity in the littlest of athletes.
