Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe has reflected on what she describes as a productive and community-focused year, marking 2025 as a period of meaningful progress in sustainability, public safety, and infrastructure upgrades.
Deppe said one of the ward’s biggest achievements was the successful rollout of community-driven initiatives, particularly those aimed at promoting sustainability and improving safety for residents.
She said infrastructure development also featured strongly in the ward’s progress, with road refurbishments and enhancements to public recreational facilities significantly improving daily life for residents.

“These projects have greatly benefited our local residents.” She noted that community partnerships and active public participation played a vital role in driving results.
However, 2025 was not without challenges. Deppe acknowledged the difficulty of balancing limited resources with growing service delivery demands, a recurring issue across many city wards. “This year taught me the importance of agile strategies in service delivery and the value of continued outreach and engagement with our community.”
These challenges, she added, have strengthened her commitment to transparent and responsive governance.
Looking ahead to 2026, Deppe outlined a clear set of priorities focused on creating opportunities and improving quality of life. Among these are enhancing local economic prospects, particularly for the youth, and expanding green spaces to encourage healthier, more vibrant neighbourhoods.

She added that striving to improving the ward’s transport networks, to promote better connectivity, will also be a key area of focus. Deppe emphasised that community involvement will remain central to the ward’s development efforts.
She plans to host regular town hall meetings and workshops to keep residents informed and to gather their input on new initiatives. “By fostering a collaborative approach, we can ensure that our initiatives align with the needs and aspirations of our community.”
Closing her reflections, Deppe expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, and optimism for the year ahead. “I look forward to another productive year.”
