Broadacres shooting on Pine Road sees one suspect arrested

A shooting near the Willows Complex on Pine Road in Broadacres has left one suspect apprehended, one confirmed injured, and one still outstanding. Police and CPF members are continuing a search, and residents are urged to avoid the area and use Cedar Road instead.

An active incident involving shots fired has been reported early this morning in Broadacres, Fourways.

Authorities urge residents to avoid the affected area.

According to the Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Centre (JOC), the incident occurred at or near a residential complex along Pine Road, between Frederick Road and Lombardy Road, at approximately 07:35.

Law enforcement and private security services responded swiftly, and the scene was declared active while operations were under way.

An eyewitness at the scene, Maj Saffari, reported that three suspects allegedly attempted to gain access to a residential complex while posing as surveyors. “The security guards then tried to scare them, which led to a shootout between the suspects and security personnel”

Ward 94 councillor David Foley urged residents to remain cautious and to prioritise their safety as this is now the second incident in that spot in the last month. “The suspects are at large, with the community policing forum and police are searching for them. Please avoid that side of you can and use Cedar Road.

“One suspect was arrested and one was P4.” In police and emergency services, P4 usually means deceased, or a patient beyond help in medical triage, indicating no signs of life, often marked with a black or blue code.

Residents and motorists have been advised to avoid Pine Road between Frederick Road and Lombardy Road until the area is declared safe. Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is urged to contact SAPS on 10111 or activate the panic button on the Safer City emergency app.
