Crawford alumnus is on a global career journey
From early mornings at Crawford International Lonehill to consulting in New York, alumnus Sean Greenway is now headed to Toronto, showing what’s possible when hard work meets opportunity.
Since matriculating from Crawford International Lonehill in 2015, Sean Greenway has carved out an impressive global career path, marked by academic achievement, professional growth, and international experience.
After completing a BCom in Accounting Sciences at the University of Pretoria, Greenway pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences, which he obtained in 2019. He then joined Deloitte to complete his audit articles and officially qualified as a chartered accountant of South Africa in 2022.
His journey didn’t stop there. Through secondment opportunities at Deloitte, Greenway worked in both California and Sydney, experiences that broadened his professional perspective and opened new doors.

These global stints ultimately led him to New York, where he currently works as a consultant for CrossCountry in their accounting advisory services division.
Looking ahead, Greenway will soon be making another bold move: Relocating to Toronto this September to begin a new role as a manager at a listed private equity real estate firm. “This has been a dream of mine, to find a niche within the financial field that excites me, and to keep learning on a bigger stage.”
Reflecting on his time at Crawford, Greenway points to a few key experiences that laid the foundation for his career. “Crawford sparked my interest in accounting, particularly thanks to Ms Truscott in Grade 9. Her energy and passion for teaching left a lasting impression. Beyond academics, Crawford taught me mutual respect, how to balance multiple responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining that balance throughout life.”

Greenway remembers his very first day at Crawford as a standout moment. Having just moved from another school, he was understandably nervous. “But once I met my fellow students and the teachers, I knew the next five years were going to be something special.”
He credits several teachers for shaping his journey: “Each of them imparted life lessons that I still carry with me today.”

To current students and recent graduates, Greenway offers this advice: “Stay curious and open. There’s so much knowledge around you, especially early in your career, so soak it all in.”
