Lonehill Triple Mile fundraises money for Lonehill Residents Association to continue their vital work

Lonehill residents laced up and ran through the rain to raise funds for community projects and the ongoing fight against invasive weeds at the Lonehill Dam.

It was a day of muddy sneakers, laughter, and community spirit at the Lonehill Triple Mile Fundraiser, held on October 18 at Lonehill Shopping Centre.

The event began with an energising 5km trail run through Lonehill Park, where participants refused to let the drizzle dampen their determination.

Afterwards, the celebration moved to the centre court for a lively prize-giving and lucky draw, with families, friends, and neighbours coming together to celebrate the cause.

This fun-filled day raised funds for the Lonehill Residents Association (LRA), with all proceeds going toward park improvements and community upliftment projects.

Sunell Pelser, portfolio marketing manager at PropertySmith, said the event once again highlighted what makes Lonehill special.

“The Triple Mile is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of community. We’re proud to add an extra R15 000 donation to support the LRA’s ongoing projects that keep Lonehill beautiful and thriving.”

For the LRA, the funds come at a crucial time. Shelly Miller, speaking on behalf of the association, explained that they have faced major challenges this year in maintaining the Lonehill Dam, which continues to be plagued by invasive weeds.

“So much time, money, and labour have gone into trying to control these weeds. Our green team, led by Nadeem Abraham, even built a rim-flow device that helps clear them, but it’s too small to manage the current volume. With this donation, we can build bigger ones and keep the dam looking great.”

Through the rain-soaked run and generous contributions, the Lonehill Triple Mile once again showcased that community is all about unity, resilience, and pride in a shared home.
