Sashen Ramlal has his sights set on the University of Cape Town, where he will study physics and mathematics after passing his matric exams with 10 distinctions.

Crawford International Lonehill is celebrating Sashen Ramlal, who has emerged as one of the crème de la crème achievers of the school after obtaining an exceptional 10 distinctions in 10 subjects in the 2025 examination results, released on January 13.

Ramlal’s outstanding performance has secured him a place among the school’s top academic performers and earned him inclusion on the prestigious wooden honours symbol, which features the names of learners who have excelled academically over the years.

For Sashen, seeing his name added in 2025 was a proud and emotional moment that marked the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance.

“When I saw my name on the honours symbol, it really sank in. It was a moment of pride, not just for me, but for everyone who supported me throughout this journey.”

Reflecting on his success, Sashen shared that his academic journey was not without its challenges.

There were times when the pressure of maintaining high standards felt overwhelming, but he credited his parents for being a constant source of motivation and encouragement.

“My parents were always there to motivate me and remind me why I started. Their belief in me kept me going, even during the most challenging times.”

Sashen also acknowledged the unwavering support he received from his teachers at Crawford International Lonehill, describing them as instrumental to his success.

“My teachers were incredibly supportive. They guided me, encouraged me, and were always willing to help when I needed clarity or reassurance.”

In terms of his study approach, Sashen said consistency played a crucial role in his preparation. He relied heavily on constant memorisation, revising his work repeatedly to ensure a solid understanding across all subjects.

He confirmed that he will be pursuing physics and mathematics at the University of Cape Town, where he hopes to further his passion for problem-solving and scientific exploration.

Crawford International Lonehill has again obtained 100% pass rate, a tradition that the school is not willing to let go of.
