Broadacres quiz night to raise funds for mental health organisation Phoenix Core
After Phoenix Core helped Candice Kruger turn her life around, she is now giving back by organising a Broadacres fundraiser to help the organisation continue supporting others facing difficult times.
Broadacres resident Candice Kruger is inviting the community to put their knowledge to the test for a good cause.
On December 5, she will host a fundraiser quiz afternoon at Coppers Craft Bar and Grill, with proceeds supporting Phoenix Core – a non–profit organisation that helps people facing mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, anger management and trauma.

The organisation also offers counselling and self-development workshops for people who are struggling to find direction or purpose. Kruger said the fundraiser is an opportunity for the community to support an organisation that is often approached by people when they feel they have nowhere else to turn.
“Where do you go when everything feels dark? When you feel completely lost, overwhelmed, depressed, and as though there’s no way out?” she asked.
Phoenix Core receives no government funding or financial assistance, relying on its own resources and community support. The upcoming quiz night aims to bring local businesses and individuals together, with organisers seeking donations of gifts, vouchers or products to use as prizes and raffle items.
Businesses that contribute will receive social media exposure and the opportunity to distribute promotional material to about 120 expected attendees. Kruger said every contribution could help Phoenix Core continue offering support to people who need it.
For her, the organisation’s importance goes beyond the services it provides. “They have helped more people than can ever be counted,” she said, adding that the organisation has helped people rebuild their lives, rediscover their purpose and realise they are not alone.

Kruger is calling on local businesses and community members to get involved through financial contributions, donations or partnerships.
