This fight was more than just a bout – it was a powerful statement against GBV, made by Fourways resident Ogle.
As the bell rang, Ogle and Morolong faced off in a fierce battle, but the real victory was the message they sent – That GBV would not be tolerated.
Drawing from her own experiences with abusive relationships, Ogle said she aims to raise awareness and inspire change. Her participation in the Nelson Mandela Boxing Cup was a reflection of her commitment to using her platform for good.
With each punch, Ogle sought to knock out the silence surrounding GBV.

“Boxing is a sport that is accessible to both men and women. However, many men who experience gender-based violence at a young age often carry emotional scars into adulthood, which can manifest in their behavioural patterns.

“Therefore, it’s essential to focus on supporting not only men and women but also children who have been exposed to gender-based violence. Boxing, being a sport that emphasizes discipline, can be a valuable tool in helping individuals heal from trauma. By teaching individuals the skills and values of boxing, we can empower them to overcome their past experiences and develop healthier coping mechanisms.”
Ogle challenged the status quo by showing that true influence requires taking bold risks, not just playing it safe. She said by putting herself out there, she wanted to inspire others to be more authentic and courageous, proving that real impact comes from vulnerability and a willingness to take a stand.
“I put myself in a position where I just got my teeth done and went inside the ring because I wanted to risk it all and stand for something for people to believe what I stand for
“My journey has taught me the value of resilience and self-empowerment. Having overcome adversity by standing up for myself and refusing to succumb to self-pity, I’ve emerged stronger and more determined.
“This transformative experience has shown me the importance of self-love and self-care. Now, I’m passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others to find their inner strength, even in their most vulnerable moments. With unwavering faith and discipline, I believe anyone can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.”
She said she also wants to create a top-tier platform for boxers in the country, similar to those in the US, addressing the current lack of resources and opportunities. Her goal is to provide a comprehensive support system that empowers local boxers to succeed.
“I am currently doing a lot of boxing association stuff so that people can see what the association has to offer.”
