Three seriously injured in aircraft crash landing near Alberton

The pilot and two passengers sustained serious injuries during the crash landing.

Three people were injured when the plane they were flying in had engine problems and they were forced to execute an emergency landing at the Panorama Airfield in Kromvlei, Alberton.

William Ntlabi, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni emergency services says, “A four-seater light aircraft attempted an emergency landing at Panorama airfield just outside Alberton on the corner of M7 and Kromvlei Road.

The aircraft had three occupants, a pilot and two passengers. All three survived with intense injuries. They were medically treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

“DEMS received the call at 17:55 and responded promptly. On arrival, various other emergency services were already on scene giving medical treatment to the injured.”

The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA).
