Nqubela Primary School honours athletes

Nqubela Primary School in Thokoza has applauded the learners who performed at their utmost best during the Greater Germiston Schools Athletics Championships at Germiston Stadium on Monday, February 17.

Three athletes from the school competed on the day, with Sharon Mahlaba and Lukhanyo Klaas each coming third in their respective events, and Thandeka Simelane achieving a second as well as a third-place finish.

The learners’ efforts were acknowledged in front of the entire school during assembly on February 22.

Teacher Nomfundo Manxeba, who is also the school’s athletics team manager, said the school was proud of the learners’ performances.

“The learners represented the whole of Thokoza Two and the school with pride,” she said.

School principal Punky Mbele also congratulated the three learners, adding: “There is more learners can do, like participating in sport rather than abusing drugs.”
