Green Door gets a warm donation

Centre for abused women and children helped.

The Green Door, a centre for abused women and children, in Elsburg, was given lots of attention from the Elsburg Methodist Church (Jumpers for Jesus), in celebration of Mandela Day, last Thursday.

Melodie Delaportas and June Kennedy opened their hearts and, as part of their 67 minutes, donated 67 jerseys and 67 beanies to the Green Door.

Doreen Harding, the Green Door’s ambassador, thanked the church for making a big difference in the lives of victims, as they can be dressed warmly for winter.

“One jersey was green and we gave it to a two-year-old boy; his face was an absolute picture when he was presented with it,” said Doreen.

She added that, without the help of the church, the centre would not be running as it is.

“May God bless this church for the good work it is doing in our community,” she said.
