Beyond the 67 minutes call

Madiba celebrations continue.

The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation decided to extend celebrations well beyond the 67 minutes of Mandela Day and continued on a full week of giving back to the 53 charities they support.

Caroline’s Care Safe House and Crèche, in Spruitview, were one of the beneficiaries of the initiative.

Over 50 children and house mothers from various charities joined Nashua Limited at its head offices in Woodmead, to rejoice in Madiba’s legacy, recently.

They received clothes, food and other essential items donated by Nashua.

Nashua employees were encouraged to donate various items to assist the charities in meeting the children’s needs.

The day kicked off with a convoy of Harley bikers who arrived on their motorcycles, creating much excitement amongst the children.

Treats included a birthday party, complete with face-painters, jumping castles and ice cream machines.

Lunch for the afternoon was sponsored by Nandos, while Pick n Pay supplied goody bags, so children did not go home empty-handed.

Furthermore, Stuttafords donated T-shirts to each of the children, which they wore on the day.

“We are guided by the character of Nelson Mandela, by the idea that we are responsible for the less fortunate among us and we look forward to making an even greater difference in the lives of the children that the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation supports on a continuous basis,” said Helen Fraser, director of the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation.
