Police put car hijacker behind bars

Police join forces to catch car hijacker.

The Primrose police joined forces with the Kempton Park police and arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a car hijacking incident, in Sunnyridge, recently.

Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police, said the hijack victim had dropped off a colleague in Olympia Road, when a blue Honda stopped near him.

“Four men pointed a firearm at the victim,” said Maome.

“They demanded the victim’s wallet and drove off in his car.”

After the incident was reported to the Primrose police, the stolen car’s registration number was circulated.

“The Kempton Park police spotted the car, gave chase and arrested the driver,” added Maome.

“We thank all the police officers involved; this is a clear indication to criminals that the arm of the law is very long.”

The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
