Car safety tips

The Elsburg SAPS want to warn motorists in the area to be extra cautious.

Const Dephney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS, provided the GCN with a list of car safety tips that can be followed:

•  Plan your route in advance and let someone know where you are going.
•  Be extra cautious when driving alone, especially at night.
•  Avoid stopping at remote places.
•  Never leave your valuables unattended in a vehicle, place everything in  the boot of your car.
•  When approaching your gate, make sure that there is no vehicle following  you.
•  When something feels or appears to be suspicious, take heed and act fast.
•  Be attentive to suspicious-looking people standing around your car.
•  Trim trees and bushes at the entrance to your driveway to avoid giving  criminals a hiding spot.
