A suspicious-looking man who was spotted walking nervously in the Germiston CBD, last Tuesday, was arrested by officers from the EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention Task Team.
When the suspect was approached by the Metro Police officers he showed the police a clean pair of heels.
The short pursuit ended when he was cornered at the intersection of Webber Road and President Street.
A small amount of CAT was found in his possession and the officers then took him to his flat, where they found 2kg of red phosphor and iodine, a funnel, a miniature scale and foil paper, believed to be used in the manufacture of CAT.
The 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Germiston Police Station, where he was charged with possession of and suspected manufacturing of an illicit substance.
He was expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on August 28.
