Tambo to be celebrated through music

The metro gets ready to celebrate the life of O R Tambo.

October, known as O R Tambo Month in the metro, is on the horizon.

The metro is preparing a multi-faceted celebration of the life and legacy of the stalwart.

Known to have been one of the country’s greatest choral composers, Oliver Reginald Tambo will, this year, be remembered for his contribution to music, at the Ekurhuleni Melting Pot National Choral Festival, to be held at Carnival City on October 19.

The event will see South Africa’s top 10 choirs battling it out live for the R250 000 prize.

Choirs representing the metro include the Cenestra Male Choir, Khathorus Chorale, East Rand Choir and Tembisa High School Choir.

The public is invited to support the choirs in celebrating Oliver Reginald Tambo’s life.
