Man arrested on charge of rape

A man in Makause informal settlement arrested for rape.

Primrose police recently arrested a man in the Makause informal settlement.

The 40-year-old has been charged with the rape of a minor.

The arrest was made after another man, who runs a tuck-shop in the settlement, noticed his six-year-old daughter was missing.

The man began to call the child’s name and, after some time the girl coming out of a shack, with a man he had seen visiting his brother.

When making sure his daughter was alright the man noticed that she was bleeding.

The man asked his daughter what had happened and she said the suspect had raped her and threatened to kill her if she screamed.

The man was arrested on a charge of rape.

Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police, said: “As police, we are trying to discourage people who operate tuck-shops from operating after dark, especially in informal settlements.

“This is because most crimes happen after dark.

“People should also take extra care with their children after dark.”
