The Elsburg SAPS have arrested a man in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
It is alleged that, on September 15, at about 7.10pm, the girl was at home with her grandmother, in a house in Buhle Park, when she went outside to empty the dustbin.
She did not return until the next day, when she alleged that she had been raped by a 19-year-old man, known to her.
A case of rape was opened at the Elsburg Police Station on September 16 and, after the Elsburg police had investigated the matter, the suspect was arrested on September 18 and detained at the police station.
Const Daphney Pooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS, said that he appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on September 19, when the case was postponed for further investigation.
