Man arrested for Primrose housebreaking

Primrose SAPS arrest man for housebreaking.

Primrose police recently arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a housebreaking and theft that took place in Lakspur Road, in Primrose.

The arrest was made after a man reported that his home had been broken into.

The complainant said that he had left home and when he returned he noticed that one of his windows was broken.

Upon further inspection, he realised that his home had been broken into and his clothes stolen.

He then travelled to the Marathon informal settlement, where he noticed a man wearing some of the clothes that had been taken from his home.

When he approached the suspect, he immediately ran away.

The complainant then called his brother and together they chased the suspect until he was cornered, and they called the SAPS.

The SAPS responded to the call quickly, and the suspect was arrested.

Const Style Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police, said: “As police we thank the victim and his brother for handing over the suspect to police without injury; this shows that our community members understand that they cannot take the law into their own hands.”

Some of the stolen items were recovered at the suspect’s home.

Upon questioning, the 21-year-old man told the officers that he had not acted alone, and that the other items were with his accomplice. He gave the officers an address where his accomplice could be found.

When police visited the address they were unable to find anyone.

The Primrose police ask that anyone with information on the second suspect please contact the Primrose Police Station on 011 842-0500.
