Through the joint efforts of the Primrose police and Top Security, a 27-year-old man was arrested on September 2, for an armed robbery that took place in Hull Road, Sunnyridge.
The arrest was made after officers received a report from a 29-year-old woman, who alleged that she had been grabbed by two men as she walked in Windsor Road.
One of the two men pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered her to keep quiet, while the other grabbed her handbag, which contained cosmetics, two cellphones and R810.
“Our officers sent out a look-out report through the police radio and sent officers to patrol the area,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
While the officers, who had remained at the scene, continued to take the victim’s statement, a security officer from Top Security arrived with a man who fitted the description given out in the look-out report.
The victim was able to positively identify the man as one of the two men who had robbed her.
He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.
Maome said: “We would like to thank the Top Security Officer for his assistance in the arrest of the suspect.
“If we keep on working together like this all criminals will be brought to book and our community will be a safer place.”
The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
