MEC for community safety Faith Mazibuko visited the Primrose Police Station and the Makause informal settlement, recently.
Mazibuko, together with Gauteng community patrollers, visited the informal settlement, where there has been an increase in arrests made for possession of dagga, possession of illegal cigarettes, selling liquor without a licence, the Mining Act of 1976 and possession of precious metal.
Mazibuko took time to speak to the residents and discussed the challenges they face on a daily basis, as well as offering advice to the community on what to do in regard to the crimes taking place in the settlement.
She also thanked the Primrose police for the good job they are doing, but advised the management of the police station that “there is no ‘no-go’ area in Gauteng, and the police must reach out to all the areas where crimes are reported and do their best to protect the community.”
