Tables were ruined in the fire in a Grade Seven classroom at Laerskool Elsburg.
The Elsburg police have opened a case of arson, following a fire that destroyed two classrooms at Laerskool Elsburg, on October 5.
The police received a report from a member of the community alerting them to the fire.
The complainant alleged that she was driving on Guthrie Road when she noticed smoke coming from the school.
She headed towards the smoke and upon her arrival at the scene she found two classes were on fire.
Upon their arrival at the scene the SAPS found that furniture, books and tables were on fire in a Grade Seven classroom, as well as a carpet in a Grade Four classroom.
The experts were called in to extinguish the fire.
The damage to property is valued at R300 000.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and the case is still under Elsburg SAPS investigation.
