Primrose police arrested a 51-year-old man on Monday, October 7, on charges of domestic violence and defying the terms and conditions of a protections order.
The arrest was made after the suspect’s girlfriend reported to the Primrose Police Station and laid a charge of domestic violence against him.
The victim had accompanied her friend, who was looking for a shack to rent, to the Delport informal settlement.
“The victim claims she had asked her boyfriend for permission to accompany her friend, and was surprised when he came looking for her.
“The victim, who once obtained a protection order against the accused, claimed that he began to accuse her of cheating and assaulted her with an open hand,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The Primrose SAPS officers searched for and arrested the suspect.
Maome appealed to the community to seek professional help when they encounter problems in their relationships.
The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
