Primrose police recently arrested a 40-year-old man on charges of housebreaking, after a woman reported the incident.
The victim told police that she had left her room at 11am and, upon her return, found that the door had been forced open.
Upon further inspection she found some of her clothing had been packed into a school bag that she had never seen before.
Officers began to follow several leads that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
“The community and police cannot tolerate crimes like this and, together, we can clean up our area; we want to see Primrose as one of the safest areas in which to live,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
The case was postponed for a bail application.
