The Coca-Cola RockCorps platform offers the ultimate salute to community “teen heroes”, for their active participation in transforming local communities for the better.
The announcement by the Coca-Cola RockCorps platform, forming part of a global youth movement and pilot project made possible by Coca-Cola South Africa, has seen thousands of teens come together in a quest to share happiness by dedicating their time to uplifting their local communities.
Thanks to the extensive project work carried out on the ground, as a result of the commitment shown by these teen heroes, the Thembalethu Primary School, Laus Deo Primary School and Vernus Children’s Garden, which make up just a handful of the identified community projects, have all experienced the real change that just four hours of a young person’s time can bring.
From painted murals bursting with colour, to restoration, ground clean-ups, the planting of trees and much more, this initiative has not only left behind a trail of smiles, but has further succeeded in exposing young people to simple ways in which they can proactively contribute to greater good.
The project also recognises the teens involved and rewards them for their positive social activism.
The “Give, get Given” mantra of the Coca-Cola RockCorps platform is inspiring the young South Africans to actively engage in their communities.
The initiative began five months ago and has become a youth-driven movement, unlike anything the country has ever seen before, with teens from over 150 schools coming together to participate.
Now comes the reward.
Following the initial recycling and environmental awareness pre-qualification programme, those who have made it through need give only four hours of their time to community service for ultra-exclusive access to an unforgettable signature Coca-Cola concert, featuring a phenomenal line-up of international music icons.
Tickets to this concert cannot be bought or won through any other channel; they can only be earned through commitment and active participation in social action.
Global superstar Ciara, and hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes have been confirmed, and will be taking to the stage and performing live in Johannesburg on November 16, exclusively for the community teens heroes, who have rolled up their sleeves and done their bit to make a real difference.
Over the next month, leading up to the concert, excited teens will push forward in their quest to earn their exclusive concert tickets and will be involved in more than 24 different community projects.
