A day of remembrance

A chance to remember the fallen.

Byline: Leigh Hodgson

Epworth Children’s Village held a special Remembrance Day function last Saturday, November 9.

The home was born out of a need after World War One, to help the children of those who had made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Remembrance Day function gave those who attended a chance to remember all those men and women who were killed during both World Wars and other conflicts.

The event also acted as a celebratory function to launch Epworth’s centenary year.

Members of the community were asked to host a table at the legacy tea, in honour of Remembrance Day.

While enjoying the day and some tea, the community members present were asked to create a timeline by telling their stories of the growth of Epworth Children’s Village.

The timeline stretched from the home’s beginnings to present day and celebrated the many people who have passed through the home’s doors.
