There was much excitement at Ithembelihle Lsen School, in Primrose East, on Wednesday, when the children were treated to a special Christmas party, courtesy of Ackermans Pharmacy.
Staff of the pharmacy, located in Rietfontein Road, as well as some of their suppliers, visited the children to spread some Christmas cheer.
With Father Christmas, a “muscle-man” and the character Gumbles, the children enjoyed a fun-filled morning.
And, to top it all off, each of the more than 200 pupils, as well as all the teachers, received a Christmas gift from the pharmacy and their sponsors.
The children also received party packs, and a lunch of hot dogs and ice-cream was provided by the pharmacy.
The suppliers who assisted Ackermans Pharmacy in making the day so special are Cipla, Adcock Ingram and Aspen Pharmacare.
Manager of Ackermans Pharmacy Karen Engelbrecht said that it is the pharmacy’s way of giving back to the community.
The event was held last year and it was such a success that it was decided to make it an annual event.
“It was such a success last year, that this time we decided to make it bigger and better,” said Karen.
“The business values the community and we feel that we need to give back to the community in some way and this is our way of doing it.”
