Shelley Loe has been replaced by Fortune Mahano as leader of the Democratic Alliance in the Ekurhuleni Metro.
Mahano previously held the position of chairman of the DA caucus in Ekurhuleni, and was elected as leader by the DA caucus internal mid-term election on November 25.
Tania Campbell was elected caucus chairperson and Mahano appointed André du Plessis to the position of chief whip.
Michele Clarke remains the deputy chief Whip.
Mahano said he was honoured to lead the official opposition in Ekurhuleni, knowing that this was the dawn of a time when the DA would be part of government as soon as next year.
As outgoing leader, Loe said she was delighted to make way for Mahano, a veteran councillor, currently serving his third term, and a stalwart member of the DA and its predecessor, the Democratic Party.
