The Primrose police arrested a 33-year-old man from the Delport informal settlement, on Wednesday, December 4, on charges of assault.
The arrest was made after the man’s girlfriend went to the Primrose Police Station and laid a charge of assault against him.
The woman explained to officers that she had run away from her boyfriend after he threatened to stab her.
Sometime later she decided to see him again.
When they met, she claims, he kicked her and hit her.
“We strongly condemn the abuse of woman and children, especially when we are celebrating 16 Days of Activism Against Woman and Child Abuse,” said Const Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
The man was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he remains in custody.
