The metro’s Springs Art Gallery invites artists to submit works for the third annual “30|30 Group Art Exhibition”, a group art exhibition that highlights the works of 30 professional artists and newcomers.
The exhibition is to be held in March, 2014.
The event aims to raise public awareness of visual arts in the metro, by providing opportunities to meet artists, and view their work at a location within the city.
It further seeks to promote, support and connect the artists directly with potential buyers.
Who is eligible to enter their work for the exhibition?
- Artists born and living in Ekurhuleni who are 18 years or older can submit their portfolio of work for selection.
- All artworks must have been created by the submitting artists, who must have legal ownership and must be the sole owners of the copyright.
- All media and techniques of visual art can be submitted for review, such as painting, photography, sculpture, installations and digital art, etc.
- Artists are encouraged to submit works that are a reflection of their communities through their own expression.
Artists who are interested in participating in the project must send four or five high resolution (300 dpi) images of their work in jpeg format, and a maximum 250 word statement/synopsis outlining the central idea of the concept, by email, to thabo.sekoaila@ekurhuleni.gov.za, or nomcebo.sithole@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
All images must include details of the works, such as title, size, medium and the year it was produced.
Entry is free.
The deadline for submission is Friday January 10, 2014.
In addition, a single work, with all its components, may not exceed 150cm x 150cm in any direction.
The final participation will entail one original piece of artwork considered to be an artistic product of an individual.
Submissions will be adjudicated by an art selection panel, composed of prominent curators, artists, arts administrators and Springs Art Gallery representatives.
The exhibition will then be mounted from March 15, to May, 2014.
