Private schools come out on top

Private schools in the city achieve in the IEB matric examinations.

The city’s two private schools recorded excellent results in the IEB 2013 matric examinations.

St Catherine’s School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with a 76 per cent degree pass.

There were 37 matric pupils and, between them, they achieved 39 distinctions.

The top pupil was Brandon Higgins, with four distinctions.

Assumption Convent School also recorded a 100 per cent pass rate, with a 94 per cent university exemption.

The school had 45 matric students.

The top student was Kirsten Whitlock, who achieved nine distinctions.

She was placed on the IEB outstanding achievement list and in the top one per cent for Afrikaans, English, geography, life sciences and life orientation.
